Rifle Competition Results Sunday 5th June 2022
The first Sunday of the month can only mean one thing – our rifle competitions. In typical Irish summer fashion, it rained from dawn until dusk. Luckily, despite the wetness, near calm wind conditions prevailed for the seven competitors.
Three disciplines were shot, 50m Precision shot from a standing position at 50 metres and two prone disciplines, Sporting Rifle and Field Sporting Rifle. The former being shot off the elbows using a sling and the latter using supports to steady the rifle. The prone competitions were a hybrid format with 20 shots for score being made at both fifty metres and at one hundred metres. All categories can be shot using any .22 rimfire rifle.
Our move towards using bulldog clips for the new competition target stands and away from staples paid dividends in the damp and dingy conditions with all soggy score cards being easily removable from the stands without any tearing.
Congratulations to Bryan, Ewa and Arnold on their prone podium positions, likewise to Paul, Keith and Bryan on their 50m Precision podiums. And an especially big well done to Liam on his first club competition, stretching the legs on his nice, new rifle! Hopefully we’ll see a few more new faces in next month’s shoot. Time to get practicing!
