SHOOT REPORT – FERMOY RIFLE CLUB – 27 MAY 2024.

Last Saturday 27th April 2024 three hardy souls, members of East Coast every one, set off from Dublin at 0630 heading for the National Association Shoot in Fermoy Rifle Club, Co. Cork. The three amigo’s are pictured below being L/R: Paul the Chairman, Marie and her Dad Anthony., pictured outside FRC’s club facility.

The weather was fine, dry and with a light wind which was cold when you were in the shade but the sun did keep you warm and it stayed in the sky for most of the day!!

Anthony and Marie wasted no time in getting going shooting in many 50M prone classifications of competitions immediately. Anthony took in a win in SPR50 Class B with 373.008 as well as a 5th in FSPR50 with 390.016. He went on to score 395.024 in the OFSPR50 when he then moved over to the benchrest range and finished 4th with a PB OF 447.008!!

While this was ongoing Paul, having some time on his hands, entered as a ‘walk-in’ on the 50M Benchrest semi-Auto competition, intending to confirm the ‘zero’ ahead of the gallery rifle classes, but brought in a Bronze, scoring 397.003!! Not to be outdone Anthony recorded a first/gold in the same class with a 449.007! Great shooting!!

Pristine SILS range (R), Benchrest (C) and 50M prone range (L) at Fermoy.

Paul achieved another bronze score, this time in smallbore pistol 25P class with a 239.003.

Marie was busy too with three Ladies firsts in FSPR50,(a third place and a PB in Class B overall), 1ST in OFSPR again in Class B with 378.000 (with another PB) and a 1st ladies / 12th overall in BR50FS. Marie also engaged in pistol shooting during the day, scoring 8th in SBP25P with 205.001.   Congratulations also to Emmanuel Kavanagh, another East Coast member, who took a silver in OSBPT&P1 class with a fine 297.007!! He also took a bronze in the OSBP GP85 competition with a 830.037,(850.085 being the HPS!!)

Overall a most enjoyable outing on a range that has been seriously upgraded, full of friendly fellow shooters and where we were nearly outnumbered by the R/O staff!! FRC is more than ready and worthy of hosting the International World Cup Gallery Rifle Competition in July ’24.
