MONTHLY SHOOT 29th July 2018
An excellent turnout to-day on a cool and overcast morning on the range. Full lines ensured lots of activity of the right sort and a healthy mix of rimfire, centrefire and gallery rifle entries. With 22 entries, the highest number this year, to shoot the 25 Precision format, many members opted to enter two or more categories which made the range very busy and a whole lot more competitive. Thanks for all competing and for the positive feedback received.
It was a close run thing in the small bore pistol ‘iron sights’ category with only four points separating the first four shooters! Congratulations to Cathal C. on his win with an impressive 265/300 BUT it was a close run thing as Anthony F. also shot 265 but only registered one ‘X’ to Cathal’s two. Self was close behind on 264 with Frank B. close-by on 261. Sean Mc. brought home the winning score in the Red Dot category with an impressive 278/300 and once again only six points separated the top three scores in this category also.
Frank B. registered the winning score in the centrefire ‘open sights’ category of 254/300.
It was a close run thing in the Gallery Rifle category also with the highest number of entries this month at five all told. Again ‘X’ countback was critical and separated first and second places with the undersigned pipping Sean Mc to the post by two ‘X’s with exactly the same scores of 253! Exciting stuff!!
My thanks to Cathal C. who stepped in to R/O a couple of lines in this shoot to allow me to compete; the next shoot is planned for Sunday 26th August 2018, first shots away at 1030hrs, and we’ll definitely be using the NASRPC Timed and Precision 1 format this time, which also allows intermingling of pistol and rifle shooters so do continue to bring your semi-automatic rifles with you!
