Colin Legg, R.I.P.
It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of Colin Legg, peacefully in his sleep, at St. Vincents Hospital Dublin, on the 3rd of May 2023. Colin was a rock of our club as he and Tony successfully ran the Shotgun section for many years. Most of our members will have met Colin as he managed our office on every Sunday. The place will seem empty without him.
He was born in 1952 and went to Sandford Park school before taking up a career in the Property Management and Auctioneering business. He always had a liking for the outdoors which he indulged with an interest in shooting and in motor bikes. He was a keen photographer and a wind surfer. When he retired, he added his energy to setting up our new range at Diamond Hill and to ensuring the successful operation of all our sections each Sunday morning. He was recognised for his work for our club by being awarded an honorary Life Membership in 2019. He was a fountain of knowledge which he shared with many members who were just finding their way into our sport. It was one of life’s pleasures to get a cup of tea and go into the office for a chat with Colin and the other elder gentlemen who could be found there.
We will all miss him.
His Funeral Service will take place at 10am on Saturday morning, May 6th, at St. Brigid’s Church (of Ireland), Stillorgan, A94 HK82, followed by burial at Deans Grange Cemetery. All club members are invited to attend.
