East Coast Open Target Rifle Shoot.
Saturday, 16 May 2026.
Match Report.
It was a bright, sunny morning on the range with light winds — ideal conditions for the first Saturday shoot of the season, which was well attended by a strong turnout of competitors.
The range was in excellent condition thanks to the efforts of Konrad and the trusty yellow peril mower. We would like to thank all the shooters who participated, and in particular the large group from DURC whose presence really made the day.
Tea and pastries were enjoyed by all after shooting.
About the Competition.
The East Coast Open Target Rifle Shoot — originally known as the Fassaroe Open — has been running since 1986. While there was a short break during a period when the club was between venues, and again during the Covid-19 pandemic, the competition carries nearly 40 years of proud history. The first winner, in 1986, was David C of the then-Fassaroe Sporting Club.
Many well-known and seasoned shooters names appear on the plinth of the cup, with East Coast’s Sandy W having won it no fewer than eight times.
