Oldies but Goldies!

E.C.S.C. shooters attended the Dublin Rifle Club Leinster Championship (Target Rifle) on 5th October last. This range nestles in the heart of the Wicklow mountains, within earshot of the Glen Of Imaal so noise is not an issue.

This was an F-Class style smallbore shoot with a course of fire of 60 shots at 50 metres.  The conditions were pleasant for shooting although the wind was quite tricky, being very variable in direction and strength.

E.C.S.C’s Sandy W was the winner with 594/600.  Runner up was D.R.C’s Liam K. on 590.

Interestingly this format has given a new lease of life for some of the older less ergonomic target rifles.  Sandy was using a sixty-year-old Winchester Model 52 target rifle. The Photos show Sandy being presented with his trophy by John K. W. who is the chairman of the Dublin Rifle Club.

Another example of the old but Gold was Sean McE who won the SBHR Silhouette shooting National Championship, 29 years after he last won it in 1996. He is still trying to understand why?
