East Coast Shooting Club Has A National Champion!
East Coast Shooting Club Has A National Champion!
Sunday 23rd of November saw the TSI National indoor target rifle championships held in the new 25 meter target range in Trinity College. This shooting range offers facilities for 25-meter rifle, 10-meter air rifle, and air pistol shooting. They have a full set of electronic targets for both disciplines. The meeting was hosted by Dublin University Rifle Club.
The shoot was held under ISSF rules.
The final is contested by the top 8 shooters from the 3 details who competed.
Competitors came from Dublin University, the Defense forces Shooting Team, Rathdrum Rifle and Pistol Club, Wilkinstown Target Shooting Club and of course East Coast Shooting Club.
The team consisted of Sandy W, Sean M and Oskar T, who was shooting in his first ever competitive Target Shoot. He was not at all fazed by all of the great and the good long time target shooters there, or the DURC younger shooters who practice on that range 3 or 4 evenings a week.
Sandy W shot in detail 1. Oskar T and Sean M in detail 2.
At the end of the 3 details the 8 finalists were announced.
SW qualified with a score of 597 and OT qualifed with a score of 576.2. SM lost out with a 564.5.
The final was shot with 2 x 5 shot strings, followed by 2 shot strings, with shooters being eliminated round by round after the first 2 strings.
OT was eliminated after the second string, ending up 7th overall and SW after the 3rd string ending with 6th overall.
However, all was not lost, and East Coast came to the fore in the competition. OT came first in his Class earning a gold medal.
To top it all off when the final scores were totted up, Oskar had topped the list in the junior category as well and was crowned TSI NATIONAL JUNIOR INDOOR TARGET RIFLE Champion 2025.
This an exceptional result as he is shooting target rifle less than a year and was shooting on the range where all his opposition for the title practice many times a week .
Thank you to Konrad who encouraged him to take up target rifle and for ferrying him to the venue, he is rightfully proud of Oskars achievement as will be all members of ECSC.
Onwards and upwards from here.
Sean M
