Christmas Charity Competition 11th December
Our annual Xmas Charity competition was held on the 11th of December with just under 50 people taking part. The weather was kind and great fun was had by all, especially the families of members who were coming to the range for the first time. The competition combined rifle and shotgun shooting and was designed to give all entrants an equal chance of winning using, “lucky number” targets with hidden bonus points for those lucky enough to hit a small target concealed under one of the other targets. This concept worked well and the names on the leader board were not the usual names who have done well in previous years. The overall winner was Brian P with a clean sweep on the clays and a good score on the rifle. The format was “bring a prize, win a prize”. In addition, a raffle was held with a top prize of €150 . Overall close to €1000 was raised for local charities including the St. Vincent De Paul group in Roundwood. We have raised approximately €8000 for local charities since we came to the range at Diamond Hill. I would like to thank all of the club members who helped set up and run the shoot especially Dave C. who set up the decorations and tree, made up the targets and rules and ran the day like clockwork. I would also like to thank Peter P. for providing the hot soup and those members and spouses who sent up food to sustain the merry throng.
