National Silhouette Shooting Association of Ireland – National Championships

The East Coast Shooting Club was delighted to host the National Championship competition for the National Silhouette Association of Ireland which was held at our range over the weekend of the 17/18th October. The decision to use our range was only taken a month ago after the planned venue became unavailable. This gave us 4 weeks to add 8 extra bays to our existing eight. Heroic work was done by Ronan W., Malcolm P. and Peter P., in getting all in order. Ronan made the bays from sheet steel and Malcolm and Peter, helped him install them in purpose built frames on the range. We would like to express our thanks to these individuals and to the NSSAI which made a donation of funds which covered the costs. All was ready for the start of the shoot at 9:00am on Saturday morning.

The competition consisted of 80 shots on each day in perfect conditions, i.e., no wind or rain. In the end, it was a clean sweep for ECSC with Nick F. Coming first, David G. second and S Mc. third.

Now that the Silhouette facilities are top class, we will have renewed emphasis on the club monthly competitions and we will also host some of the National level competitions, open to all clubs, during the summer.
