MONTHLY PISTOL/GALLERY RIFLE SHOOT 28th OCTOBER 2018
A bright, cold but clear and still morning brought out members (and one or two newbies) to shoot the October Pistol/Gallery Rifle Competition, using the Timed and Precision 1 format (HPS 300). Thank you to MarkO who started the morning RO’ing the line and Sean Mc. who scored the targets. This kept the lines going faster rather than slower and contributes to keeping the enjoyment level as high as possible!!
As usual everybody competed in a good spirit, and all three categories showed very competitive scoring. Honours were taken in the iron sights pistol section by Anthony F. being with an impressive score of 294.005/300 with Sylvester taking second place with 292.007 and self on 289.008.
Sean McI. scored 293.012 to win the ‘red dot’ pistol category, Anthony F. and Don McG. chasing a close second and third respectively with 292.08 and 284.004.
In the Gallery Rifle Anthony F. took the honours with 294.011 closely pursued by the u/signed with 293.009 with Ed P. recording a ‘PB’ of 286.006.
Only one centrefire entry was shot by Dave C. and hopefully this trend of attendance will continue to be reversed next month?
Good shooting by all, well done!! My thanks to Anthony F. who stepped in to R/O in this shoot to allow me to compete; the next shoot is planned for Sunday 25th November 2018, first shots away at 1030hrs, and we’ll be using the ‘25 Precision’ format for pistol and gallery rifle competitions. This format also allows bolt and lever action and semi-automatic rifles to be used in the Gallery Rifle section, so all are welcome to partake! Don’t forget also that the 25th November is the date for the club AGM which will be held at the club so come along, shoot in the competition and then attend the meeting!!
