Demonstration of ISSF Supported Shooting hosted at the E.C.S.C. range on Saturday last, 25th August.

Target Shooting Ireland conducted an Introduction and Demonstration of ISSF Supported Shooting hosted at the E.C.S.C. range on Saturday last, 25th August.

Supported Shooting is a new discipline which allows the use of certain artificial supports in lieu of those used in the traditional shooting positions.  E.g. the equivalent to prone allows the same jacket and sling, sitting with both elbows on a table, instead of on the ground.  The discipline is aimed at shooters less able-bodied for any reason, including age.  It has a certain convergence with those practiced in the Paralympics.

The event was run by John L. of T.S.I. and the demonstration and coaching was given by Irish Paralympian shooter Sean B.  Attendees enjoyed the session and found it of great interest.  The differences between this and shooting in the traditional positions are quite subtle and technically interesting.
